It was like New Year's Eve in New York City last night, but instead of celebrating to usher in a new calendar year, citizens were rejoicing over the dawn of a new era.
The results of yesterday's historic election and President-Elect Barack Obama's moving acceptance speech energized the city. While voters young and old danced and sang in the streets, celebrities of all kinds partied in some of Gotham's hottest bars and clubs.
Jessica Alba, one of Hollywood's most politically-active stars, attended movie mogul Harvey Weinstein's bash at hot spot Public House, where she celebrated with James Franco and Josh Lucas. When asked about her opinion of McCain's concession speech, she told the New York Daily News, "I was surprised that McCain brought race into his speech. I guess he was trying to bring people together."
Considering how invested Jessica and dozens of other celebs were in the turnout of this year's election, we're sure we'll be hearing more reactions as the day continues. Stay tuned, and in the mean time, tell us what last night's results mean to you...
