Not everyone is speaking out in support of Ricky Martin's decision to become a father via a surrogate. A Catholic cardinal from Honduras has come forward against the pop star, who recently had twin boys, for his choice.
On a visit to Chile, Honduran cardinal Oscar Andres Rodriguez told the media that "what Martin did diminishes the dignity of a human being. You can't just buy or rent life." He added, "It's even worse when someone famous and in the public eye is doing it."
The Cardinal has at least one supporter in Mexican talk show host Esteban Arce, who blasted Ricky on his show Matutino Express: "I don't think it's right to deny children of maternal figures, just because you have a big ego."
Dimishing the quality of human dignity? Big ego? These guys must be confusing Ricky Martin—who has dedicated his life to charity work and miraculously managed to keep his private life away from the public—with someone else...say, some of their colleagues at the Vatican?
