While the majority may consider Lacoste a brand for the preppy elite (just us?), this Spring/Summer 2013 collection by creative director Felipe Oliveira Baptista is one to be reckoned with.
Lacoste's theme at Saturday’s show was obviously sporty (specifically with the ol’ tennis racket) but it never hit the cheesy mark. The tennis pattern on the garments is quite beautiful and intricate. You'd never even be able to tell the tennis print from far away. It’s a perfect way to advance the 80-year-old label and introduce it to a new generation.
We found it lovely to see several men in attendance wearing the classic polo with the iconic crocodile logo at the show including actor Thomas Gibson (“Criminal Minds”). It’s a brand that continues to evolve with the times thanks to the innovation by the Paris-based designer.
While some looks still adhere to the preppy and sporty type, it is the highlights, that included a short black dress, tennis-print and striped mini dress with matching coat, that made this show a standout.
