We all want to lose a little weight sometimes and we’re not ashamed to say we may have tried the celeb favorite Master Cleanse once or twice—and hated it. While the combination of fresh maple juice, rich maple syrup and cayenne pepper mixed into our water bottles wasn’t enough to captivate, there are even crazier diets out there.

From the burrito diet (um, uno mas por favor?) to the ice cube diet (say what?!) to the borderline dangerous cigarette diet (please, NO!), these are the 10 unhealthiest ways to lose weight

1. Burrito Diet

The Burrito Diet, invented by Matthew Lisk who lost 80 pounds by eating only burritos, isn’t the worst diet on the planet. But talk about food fatigue! His real trick was developing healthier eating habits, which we can all do without eating the same food every single day. 

2. Chewing DIet

The Chewing Diet

Apparently started by Horace Fletcher in the early 1900s, this diet consistent of chewing food incessantly until it was purified, and then spitting out what remained. It may be a good idea to chew your food thoroughly, but we’re not fans of not actually eating it.

3. Baby Food Diet

The Baby Food Diet

This diet is said to have some celebrity fans, including Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, but cutting calories by eating approximately 14 jars of baby food doesn’t really sound very satisfying. It may  help you lose weight fast, but what happens when you go back to eating regular food?

4. Cabbage Soup Diet

The Cabbage Soup Diet

Used primarily to kick-start your weight loss, this diet involves eating as much cabbage soup as you’d like to for a whole seven days. Although cabbage does have a good dose of Vitamins K & C, it won’t really be enough to keep you full—or satisfied for very long.

5. Air Diet

Possibly the craziest diet on this list, the air diet came out of French magazine Grazia which claimed that Madonna was a proponent of this diet whose only rule was to eat nothing but a water and salt soup. Instead, you’d hold food to your mouth, smell it, and then set it down. 

6. Twinkie Diet

The Twinkie Diet

With twinkies officially back, you could go on this diet and lose weight if you only eat about 10 a day (that’s 1,500 calories) but your body will be losing out on all of the major nutrients and protein. More than likely, you’ll be really tired—and grow sick of this snack, too.

7. Cotton Ball Diet

The theory behind this diet is very simple: eat cotton balls before a meal and your stomach will fill up faster. The only problem? Cotton balls could actually damage your digestive track. Instead, opt for a full glass of water before you start eating dinner.

This food choice is pretty much what it sounds like: you eat ice to keep full, instead of food. Supposedly followed by Renee Zellweger, this extreme diet might help you lose weight but it’s extremely unhealthy. How could you possibly last on a no-eating-food plan?!

Talk about a diet that’s not only a little crazy but also harming your body! Sure, lighting up a cigarette instead of eating would help you lose weight since they don’t have any calories—but it’s well documented that smoking can lead to heart disease and lung cancer. Stay away!

10. Sleeping Beauty Diet

The Sleeping Beauty Diet

This diet advises you to sleep 24/7 in order to lose weight. Although research shows that getting a full night’s sleep is a good way to curb your cravings, sedating yourself to constantly sleep is not only dangerous but also a pretty boring way to spend your life.
