When my girl and I walked into this small eatery we were expecting your typical Latin fare with a twist—but typical it was not. The vibe was cozy but chic and the décor minimal with close attention to detail.
Although ambiance is important, what really makes a restaurant amazing is the service and food, and Yerba Buena didn’t fall behind in either of these areas. Their version of fried calamari, Chicharron de Calamar, was addictive with its blue corn crust and tamarind vinaigrette. The fish ceviche was so tender it melted in my mouth. For meat lovers, the arepas with BBQ beef short ribs are the perfect size to tease your taste buds and get you ready for the amazing flavors that are to come.
But the highlight of this bistro is their incredibly innovative cocktail menu. My fave, by far, was the Poquito Picante, and you can make it at home by checking out the recipe right here! My friend was super-excited with the variety of Pisco-based cocktails, which were all delicious as well. From the waiters to the bartenders to the owner, Giovanny Campos—everyone is there to make sure you have a pleasant experience, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself fiendin’ for more of that Yerba Buena.
