Ecuadorian chef Jose Garces has been very successful in the Philly area, with four well–known restaurants serving up Spanish, Mexican, and Peruvian fare. Come June, he will open his 5th establishment, and it is a far cry from his popular Latin eateries. Whiskey Village, as it's name implies, is an all American whiskey bar. If you’re a true whiskey drinker and like your stuff straight up you'll be delighted to have your pick of nearly 100 different varieties of whiskey, bourbon, rye, and scotch from countries all over the world.
If straight up whiskey isn't your thing, try one of the 16 specialty house cocktails. Garces divides the beverages on offer into two categories: Prohibition (classics like the Manhattan) and Repeal (new and innovative recipes), all ranging in price from $11–$18. The menu consists of simple bar food with a twist and a raw bar selection, meant to compliment your drinks. Even if you’re not a big fan of alcohol or whisky, it’s great to see this wonderful chef bring his own Latin flair to all-American staples.
