I just got word that Parada 22, a Latin eatery serving authentic Puerto Rican fare in San Fran, will soon open its doors!  This restaurant is brought to us by Alex Jackson (chef of Weird Fish and The Corner) and fellow Puerto Rican Philipe Belber (owner of Cha Cha Cha).  I couldn’t be more excited—it has nothing to do with me being Puerto Rican (wink!). It’s even more exciting because the restaurant will fill a void in this city as one of its few Puerto Rican restaurants.      

Named after a relative's street in San Juan, PR, you immediately sense a Carribbean vibe with cans of guava, coffee beans, and cigars displayed on bright colored walls and wooden picnic tables and stools provided for seating. The inspired décor makes it easy to forget you’re not in La Isla del Encanto.  At this chilled-out informal bistro, don’t expect to find your modern fusion dishes, but rather good ole’ Puerto Rican food like pernil (roasted leg of pork), bistec encebollado (steak with carmelized onions), and camarones in a creamy garlic sauce with light salads filling the menu. Best part? Most entrees are between $7-$10.  Can’t wait to try it.

Now, we can say WEPA to that!!
