I think I may have just discovered a new spot to add to my top ten all-around fave restaurants. It’s ironic since I prefer seafood and veggie options and it’s an Argentinean restaurant. But I was delighted with a friendly staff and attentive owners, tables filled with families and young professionals, soft lighting and tasteful décor, and, best of all, good wholesome food.

I had the pleasure of trying a few dishes starting with the most scrumptious bite-size empanadas—one with meat and the other with spinach and cheese. They were baked and not too doughy. My next dish was veal sweetbreads which is not something I would normally order, but paired with savory mashed potatoes and an onion and tomato vinaigrette it sounded too appetizing to pass up. If there is ever a place to try this delicacy, this is it. I moved on to a delicious mushroom soup, very simply garnished with a little EVOO and a sprig of rosemary.

Of course, you can’t go to an Argentinean restaurant and not have steak, which was seasoned with a teeny bit of salt and cooked to tasty and tender perfection. I’m not a big meat eater and I couldn’t get enough! The meal was topped off with a divine flan—creamy and totally orgasmic. Libertador succeeded in serving classic Argentinean dishes with top-notch class and for this reason I’ll definitely be making a trip back to this gauchos paradise on the Upper East Side.
