My birthday was coming up and instead of the typical drunken debauchery, I decided to do something a bit more grown and sexy. So I scheduled a lovely dinner with all the special women in my life. With a name like Cucharamama, I knew this restaurant was going to rep for the ladies and did it ever. It's designed in homage to women who have reigned over their kitchens like the two who own this restaurant, Maricel E. Presilla and Clara Chaumont, rule over theirs.

This South American tavern is quite elegant, yet still has a cozy feel to it. Flattering dim light fills the room and Latin American paintings and objects adorn the warm golden yellow walls. Once they sat the twelve of us and served me the most refreshing mojito I’ve ever had, the celebration began. With so many choices on a menu it’s hard not to get overwhelmed. But they have numerous small plates and I suggest sticking to those so you can taste as many of the delicious South American dishes as possible. From the bread made in the rustic wood-burning oven, to the Sango (plantain soup with shrimp), to the tamales; everything was phenomenal. Although it was a bit pricey, the amazing women, great food, and warm ambiance made it worth every penny!
