There is nothing like a nice, hot drink on a chilly day. The problem is many of us get stuck in a “drink” rut, and are unable to get out of our comfort zone. Time to shake things up a bit with these six warm beverages you’ll love.
Atole
A traditional beverage in Mexico, atole is a masa-based drink flavored with cinnamon and sugar. A holiday favorite!
What You’ll Need:
1/2 cup masa flour
5 cups milk
1/4 cup fine chopped piloncillo
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions:
Begin by whisking the milk into the masa flour in a large saucepan, until it’s free of lumps. Next, add the piloncillo, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Then, bring everything to a boil, and stir constantly to keep it from becoming lumpy. Serve hot in mugs and enjoy!
