DESCRIPTION:

Green beans tossed with tomato, butter, and sweet spices would be a great Thanksgiving side dish.

INGREDIENTS:

1 pound green beans, cut into 1 1/2- to 2-inch pieces
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
1 medium tomato, diced
1 to 2 tablespoons butter

PREPARATION:

1. Bring a large saucepan of water to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and drop in the green beans. Cook, uncovered, until tender, about 10 minutes.

2. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine  cinnamon, cumin, salt, cayenne, and cloves and set aside.

3. When the beans are tender, add the tomato to the pot, cover, and cook for another minute. Drain the beans and tomato and transfer to a large bowl. Stir in the spices and toss. Dot with butter.
