Daily Bite: Stuffed Jalapeno and Jack Burger
| 09/02/2009 - 14:00 |
INGREDIENTS:
4 pounds ground beef
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon garlic pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 pound Monterey Jack cheese, grated
Sliced canned jalapeños
3 roasted green peppers, quartered
Ketchup or charred tomato relish
PREPARATION:
Preheat grill on medium-high heat. In a large bowl, mix ground beef with oregano, garlic pepper, and salt. Divide the meat evenly to make 16 burgers. Form the meat into patties, and split each patty through the center into 2 patties. Flatten the patties and sprinkle one of each half with 1 tablespoon of cheese and slices of jalapeño. Place the other half patty on top and pinch the edges together to seal in the cheese and jalapeño peppers.
On a hot grill, grill the burgers for 5 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness is reached. Serve on toasted bun with a slice of roasted green pepper and ketchup or charred tomato relish.
