This exotic blend combines dark, rich espresso with the tropical flavors of Caribbean rum and orange liqueur, topped with cream to create a dessert-like beverage.
1 cup brewed espresso
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. dark rum
2 tbsp. Grand Marnier or other orange liqueur
1 cup heavy cream
Curled strips of orange zest, for garnish
1. Divide espresso between 2 large glass mugs. Add 1 tablespoon sugar to each and stir until dissolved. Mix into each mug 1 tablespoon rum and 1 tablespoon orange liqueur.
2. Balancing a tablespoon on the rim of a mug, hold the bowl of the spoon face down just above the surface of the coffee. Drizzle 1/2 cup cream over the back of spoon so most of cream floats near the surface of the coffee. Repeat with second mug.
3. Garnish with curled orange rinds, if desired.
