Today, in honor of National Brown-Bag-It Day, we pay homage to our favorite Latin brown bag bites, the favorites of our childhood and our most indulgent food memories: medialunas, chivitos, churros, and empanadas to name a few.
Running out for a cafecito, pulling over to a fritura shack, popping into your local neighborhood bodega for a small bite, or a taste of something sweet, and you'll usually leave with a delicious snack wrapped tight in a brown paper bag. These brown paper bags, though often associated with PB&J school lunches, have a completely different connotation in Latin American countries. They allude to a dish freshly made, and meant to be devoured on the go.
