DESCRIPTION:

Looking for ways to spice up your Thanksgiving menu? Then take a page from a cookbook filled with recipes that are as distinctly Latin as they are American.

INGREDIENTS:

3 tbsp. butter
1 medium onion, chopped
1 celery stalk, chopped
1 jalapeño pepper, chopped
2 lb. Swiss chard, stalks and leaves sliced crosswise into strips
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup half-and-half
1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese

PREPARATION:

1. In a saucepan, heat butter. Add onion, celery, and jalapeño and cook to soften.

2. Add Swiss chard, stir to mix, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Cover and simmer over low heat until chard is tender, about 10 minutes.

3. Stir in half-and-half and Swiss cheese and cook until cheese is bubbling.
