Cuban Style Iced Malta W/Sweetened Condensed Milk
Malta is a really dark beverage made from barley, hops and yeast. It’s non-alcoholic, so don’t worry about getting tipsy. While it’s great for drinking straight over ice, it’s much better the way I grew up drinking it at home with the secret ingredient: Sweetened Condensed Milk!
- 1- 16 oz. Malta
- 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
- Crushed ice
- Dash of vanilla extract
In large chilled glass, pour Malta, add condensed milk and vanilla. Stir well. Top with crushed ice. Serves 1-2.
The "Kiss Bee" Martini
This cocktail is second best only to a Cuban mojito—yes, that good! Light, refreshing and tangy.
- 2 oz. fresh orange juice
- 2 oz. simple syrup
- 2 oz. Absolute Vodka
- Orange slice, slightly cut on one end
- 1 cocktail cherry with stem
Squeeze all juices. Add all ingredients to martini shaker except cherry and orange slice. Shake for 1 minute and serve chilled with orange slice on rim of glass and cherry at bottom.
When I started toying with this idea of taking carrots and making a healthy version of a mojito, I got excited. Not bad tasting at all! The carrot juice taste is so subtle, and the color makes it oh-so-sexy and refreshing!
- 3 oz. Bacardi Rum
- 3 oz. carrot juice*
- 3.5 oz simple syrup*
- 1/2 lemon
- 6 mint leaves
- Splash of club soda
In martini shaker, add rum, carrot juice, simple syrup and ice. Muddle mint leaves using mortar and pestle. Add mint leaves. Squeeze lemon into mix. Shake well. Pour into cocktail or tall glass. Top with club soda and garnish with pretty mint leaf.
For Carrot Juice:
- 3 long carrots
- 1.5 tbsp. honey, peeled and chopped
- 1/4 c. water
Add carrots, honey and water to blender. Blend on high for 35 seconds. Using colander, strain all pulp and pour carrot juice in separate glass. This yields about 1/4-3/4 cup of fresh carrot juice.
For simple syrup:
Equal parts water and sugar. Bring to boil until sugar has dissolved and water is clear. Chill before using.
