There's nothing Isabella Rose Taylor can't do. The designer, who at 13 years old debuted her collection in New York Fashion Week, is now exploring the world of interior design with her partnership with PBteen. The exclusive home decor capsule will offer 40 pieces, including bedding, decorative accessories and wall art, all created by the designer herself.
We caught up with the gifted artist to discuss her chic-yet-modern collection, exciting projects she's currently working on and much more.
Congratulation on the collection! What made you want to team up with PBteen?
Thank you! Well, I’ve always wanted to do interior design. I mean, I’ve always been drawn to creative things and fashion. Interior is such an amazing next step. The collaboration has been like the most amazing experience being able to create a teen bedroom – in a sense my dream bedroom. I think that it will appeal to so many other girls out there. I’m just so excited about the whole process. I think it embraces creativity and it’s so fun.
Which is your favorite piece from the collaboration with PBteen?
I really love the beanbag because it’s such a fun textural piece. As far as the furniture, my one piece would be the armoire. That’s also like a great piece.
What's one key piece that every girl should have in her bedroom?
I think nice bedding. Whether that’d be an accent, if you feel more crazy, or a great staple. I just think that it makes your room feel really complete.
You’re Latina. How did your roots influence your design process for this collection?
Definitely! I feel like growing up Latina I’ve always been very creative. Food, culture and all that has played a big part in my life, so I feel like that translates everything in a way. I love like my modern side, but I feel like my more Latina side, like I love those pops of color like pinks. It’s also like the whole femininity meets the modern. I feel like that’s totally representative of me and my culture.
Are there other exciting things that you’re currently working on that your willing to share with our readers?
I’m just continuing working with my clothing line. I’ve recently did like an IRT-redux collection, which is kind of like upcycling pieces and I’m very excited about that. This is my last semester at Parsons, so I graduate. That’s another exciting thing.
Amazing! Early congratulations on that. What advice would you give young girls that dream of being in this industry?
I would say don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and connect yourself. I think social media is such a great way to connect with other like-minded people, and just like don’t let anyone or anything like hinder your creativity because I think it’s so unique and it’s what makes you who you are.
The Isabella Rose Taylor for PBteen capsule collection will be available on April 27, 2017 in PBteen stores and online at PBteen.com. Check out some of the pieces from the collection below:
