Latinas, stand up! As we all celebrate Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s momentous achievement today, we’d like to announce the sale of our exclusive Wise Latina T-shirts. We can’t let a few misguided senators turn Sotomayor’s inspirational words into something negative. That’s why we’re exalting each and every Wise Latina with these proud, inspirational T-shirts—reminders of the empowering message Sotomayor was trying to send.

Proceeds from the sale of each T-shirt will go to the Bronx Global Learning Institute for Girls.

Check out our Wise Latina video below. And click here to purchase your Wise Latina T-shirt now!

Well, considering that some Latinas have white skin and blonde hair, not sure if anyone would see the irony. They would just assume you were Latina. I for one could care less if you wore a t-shirt that said Wise White Girl, just like I don't care when I see people wear shirts that say Trailer Park Trash. Who am I to judge how you identify yourself? However, that said, if your point was your desire to celebrate "white pride," I personally would be careful how you do so. If we look at history, "white pride" sure hasn't served us well in America. Historically, "white pride" has been hell bent on not being inclusive of any other race except Caucasian. On the other hand, "black pride" or "Latino pride" is simply just an attempt for acceptance of these groups by the mainstream or "white" majority. It sounds like you have no clue of the drama people of color still face everyday in America. Why does it bother you that Latinas find this phrase empowering? There's enough ugly stereotypes out there about us, and we're not about to let your insecurities stop us from feeling inspired about being a Wise Latina.

I'd like to see a few more t-shirts available like "My Mother is a Wise Latina", or "Son of a Wise Latina", "Daughter of a Wise Latina", so that we can all honor our Latina mothers by wearing these t-shirts!
