Economic meltdown? What economic meltdown? As far as Victoria's Secret is concerned, everything's coming up roses. Last weekend, the lingerie behemoth partied like it was 1999 for their annual fashion show in Miami. The festivities scheduled on Friday and Saturday were teeming with boldfaced names like Mariah Carey, Robin Thicke, Terence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson and Madonna's lovebug, A-Rod along with 3500 additional revelers at at the famed Fountainbleau Hotel, which just completed a major billion dollar renovataion. Victoria's Secret execs shelled out $5 million for the unforgettable soiree, which was planned long before the economy tanked.
Vicky staged not one but two extravagant fashion shows before a crowd of 1,000 and later to be viewed by millions when the show airs on CBS on Dec. 3. Victoria's Secret Angels like Adriana Lima and Heidi Klum sashayed down the catwalk in their scintillating bras and panties. At one point, Lima donned a $5 million black diamond bra and ginormous black and white angel wings. There were also balconettes, demi-cups, bustiers, boyshorts and merrywidows galore, all in the name of celebrating glamour and femininity.
So what do you think: Given the economic climate, is it tacky that Victoria's Secret is flaunting their riches? Or does the glamour and the glitz help you forget about your bills?
