Remembering Yves Saint Laurent

These days the words “icon” is tossed around as loosely as a peasant blouse, but in this case, it applies. French designer Yves Saint Laurent passed away on June 1, leaving his indelible legacy upon the fashion-obsessed, culture enthusiasts and yes, even regular women. In his 44-year career, Saint Laurent not only transformed womenswear with empowering looks that would become the staples of a mujer’s wardrobe (the peacoat, the pants suit and the safari jacket, to name a few) but he also helped shaped the style of nearly every fashion heroine we know, from Salma Hayek to Nicole Kidman.
