10 Latino Stars & Designers Bringing Fashion to the Masses

In case you missed the memo, our buying power is expected to increase to a whopping $2.1 trillion by 2015. That includes fashionistas looking for designer deals at every turn. It's no wonder why there are so many Latino designers and celebrities dropping clothing lines for department stores left and right! Check out the ones you should keep a look out for during your next shopping trip. 

1. Fashion for the Masses: Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie for Impulse - Available at Macy’s

Now everyone can own a piece of Nicole Richie’s vibrant and eclectic bohemian-style thanks to her upcoming capsule collection for Impulse. The limited-edition collection, out September 12, will feature trendy fall pieces in beautiful bold colors and jewel tones. Her signature pieces including asymmetrical skirts, cropped tops, and fitted jackets, ranging from $49 to $149.

2. Fashion for the Masses: Narciso Rodriguez

Narciso Rodriguez – Available at Kohl’s and Banana Republic

Who wouldn’t love to get a little style advice from Narciso Rodriguez? The Parsons School of Design graduate serves as a fashion advisor for Banana Republic and will launch his exclusive Istanbul-inspired collection at Kohl’s this November. "I am excited to partner with Kohl's to bring this collection to life and provide women with beautiful clothing at an accessible price," said Rodriguez. Prices will range from $30 to $150.

3. Fashion for the Masses: Daisy Fuentes

Daisy Fuentes – Available at Kohl’s

Since 2004, the Cuban model-turned-fashion-mogul has been designing Caribbean-inspired chic and classic pieces for the department store. Daisy’s estimated $800 million earnings are in part due to her knowledge of knowing what Latinas want, “Latin women want a good product that fits well at an affordable price,” said Daisy in an interview. Most pieces are no more than $40.

4. Fashion for the Masses: Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez – Available at Kohl’s

J.Lo adds a touch of glam to everything she does! The Jenny From The Block star launched her clothing collection along with ex-husband, Marc Anthony last fall. Since then, Kohl’s key revenue increased by 5.6 percent (that’s $1.3 billion!). Whether you are going for the urban chic look or Hollywood glam, J.Lo has something for all of us and for crazy low prices.

5. Fashion for the Masses: Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara – Available at Kmart

“Work what you got.” That’s the Colombian star’s motto for her latest fall 2012 collection at Kmart. Her line, which dropped last year, quickly expanded from clothing and accessorizes to home décor. In true Gloria fashion, the line includes leopard print-pieces and low-cut necklines.

Selena Gomez for Dream Out Loud – Available at Kmart

Nicole Richie isn’t the only one inspired by boho style. Selenita also plays with the casual silhouettes for her Dream Out Loud collection for Kmart. From plaid prints to bold bottoms, the Disney star’s fans will definitely count on her for their back-to-school wardrobe - and parents will love the price tag too.

Mark your calendars if you haven’t already fashionistas! The legendary designer will be hitting a Target and Neiman Marcus near you this holiday season thanks to the limited edition holiday collection featuring 24 high-end designers. If the Missoni and Jason Wu collections for Target shut down the store’s website, we can only hope they are ready for our orders come this winter! Will you be joining in on the madness?

8. Fashion for the Masses: Robert Rodriguez

Robert Rodriguez - Available at Target + Neiman Marcus

The Cuban-American designer and Fashion Institute of Technology graduate is known for his visionary and unique designs. Considered a celebrity favorite, Robert will soon become available to everyone as one of the 24 haute designers forming part of the Target and Neiman Marcus holiday collection.

When it comes to the type of women he designs for, Robert revealed in an interview, “She’s eclectic, she’s a downtown girl, and she’s an uptown girl. She has a bit of an edge, but still feminine. I design for a wide range of women.”

9. Fashion for the Masses: Proenza Schouler

Proenza Schouler - Available at Target + Neiman Marcus

Founded in 2002 by the duo Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, Proenza Schouler made its department store debut at Barneys New York. They have since expanded to a number of luxury department stores and won the 2007 CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year award.

10. Fashion for the Masses: Carolina Herrera

Carolina Herrera - Available at Target + Neiman Marcus

Nothing says refined elegance more than an outfit made by the Venezuelan designer. Carolina is known for accentuating a woman’s curves with rich fabrics and classic silhouettes. She will join the three other Latino designers mentioned for the Target + Neiman Marcus holiday line.
