Oscar de la Renta has famously criticized First Lady Michelle Obama's fashion choices in the past. First, he lamented her decision to wear only American designers through her first few months in office. Then he talked smack about her choice to wear accessible clothing line J. Crew to high profile events, saying, "I think it’s wrong to go in one direction only."
Needless to say, fashion insiders weren't exactly shocked by the lack of Oscar de la Renta labels in Obama's closet. In spite of all the drama, the First Lady chose to wear a sleek red sheath dress by the famous couturier's son, Moises de la Renta, last month to a White House function.
Moises de la Renta has his own new clothing line called MDLR. Until this event, Obama had not been spotted in any De la Renta creation, by father or son, though Oscar has long been a favorite of First Ladies in the past.
Wonder whether Oscar approves of the "direction" Michelle's sartorial choices are taking now?
