Isabel Toledo Designing Affordable Shoe Line

Come September, your feet and wallet are going to be so much happier! Cuban-born American fashion designer Isabel Toledo—who gained notoriety a year ago when she dressed First Lady Michelle Obama for Inauguration Day— announced yesterday that she will be design a lower-priced diffusion line of shoes and purses for Payless. The discount shoe store already has lines from Christian Siriano and Alice + Olivia; but Toledo will be the first established designer to work with them.

“My business is quite couture and precise,” Toledo told WWD about the line. “This is taking into account all different lifestyles. In a way, it’s the closest thing to real life for me. And I feel like I’m all of these women.”

The line, which will include flats, heels, galoshes and purses, will all retail for less than $40. This is huge for Isabel, and our closets won't mind the cute and affordable new additions for fall either!
