Mexican designer Christian Cota showed his Spring 2011 collection at Lincoln Center on Saturday as part of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2010. Cota—who said he found inspiration in the Yucatan jungle while hanging out in a “high-tech eco-cabin”—shared an impeccably tailored array of gorgeous designs.
Cota, a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist, was also clearly influenced by the tropical birds he encountered during his travels. The trapeze blouses were whimsical. Sheer touches on the long and lean silhouettes of the blazers and a few of the dresses completed the feminine looks, while maintaining an airy feel. The entire collection seemed as though it might take flight at any moment!
Highlights included some sexy jumpsuits (a trend that seems to be going strong into next Spring), tailored shorts, and a neutral-colored strapless gown dramatically draped with feathers.
