FASHION WEEK: Custo Barcelona Dreams in Color

A Custo Barcelona show is all about sensory overload--the bigger the hair, the brighter the clothes, the louder the soundtrack, the better! And Spring 2009's was no exception. Male and female models strut their stuff in psychedlic skinny pantsuits, squiqqly-lined cropped turtleneck sweaters, metallic blue jackets with oversized bows and flowy kimono dresses in mixed fabrics. Among the catwalkers? America's Next Top Model alum Jaslene Gonzalez, who flipped off her purple shades as BFF Aubrey O'Day cheered from the the front row, clutching her teeny white dog. It was a surreal scene to say the least.

Across the runway sat Heroes star Dania Ramirez, who gushed over pair of high-waisted short shorts...that is, until the model turned her back and revealed more than just her gams. "Okay, maybe if they added a couple of inches to the bottom," Dania laughed.

After the show, Custo Dalmau himself told us that in his mind, "Contemporary means graphic art that has no reference with the past." Certainly it's tough to pinpoint what inspires the Custo Barcelona woman, but she sure is bold.
