Diseñador colombiano Esteban Cortazar is back on the fashion scene! Previously the lauded creative director of Emanuel Ungaro (he left when the house brought Lindsay Lohan in as "artistic director") Cortazar just showed a fall 2010 collection at the recent Colombia-based Colombiamoda fair. The designer's past work for Emanuel Ungaro was young and fresh, but with a decided sophisticate twist. Wrapped and twisted, draped and colorful minidresses were paired with opaque black tights and fierce shiny booties in his fall 2009 collection.
But in his new fall 2010 Colombiamoda presentation, Cortazar infused extra punk (read: black fabrics), and rock 'n roll looks that included slouchy black beanies, leopard-print jeans, and buckled up booties. Sheer, shiny and shape-conscious could be key words for this collection, and Cortazar fears not leather pants, body-con separates and I-don’t-give-a-damn 'tude. Perfect for the city street, these designs show the designer is back in a major way, and producing clothes that, as is his signature, make a bold statement.
