Carlos Santana Adds Handbags to His Resume

If you can’t get enough of Carlos Santana’s vibrant shoe line, you’ll love his new matching handbags. The rock 'n' roll icon has just announced that starting this October, his fashion label will introduce a slew of totes, shoulder bags and purses to select Macy’s stores. The bags, which feature bold hues, lots of stripes and textures, and some striking hardware, are inspired by Santana’s album covers, dating back to the colorful ‘70s. “As an artist, I’m inspired by style, color and passion,” the famed guitarrista tells Women’s Wear Daily. “I have found that it is wonderful to celebrate those qualities — which I most often express in my music — through fashion.”

Animal-conscious chicas, don't fret: Carlos has made sure that there's a bag to fit every one of us: The Carlos by Carlos Santana line (available in the fall) will consist of all faux-leather pieces retailing between $79 and $119. In spring 2009, he'll introduce the all-leather Carlos Santana Gold line, which will retail between $60 and $135. A Carlos Santa Platinum line of ultra-luxe varieties is still in development.

We love how opposite patterns and textures mix in the three pieces shown here to create a look that is studded and rough, yet multihued and fun--all without being overbearing. What do you think? Will you be buying one of Carlos Santana’s handbags this fall?
