The Cool New Cut
The Cool New Cut
We asked hair pro Steven Dillon, style director of the Pierre Michel Salon in New York City, for advice on how to pull off the new mid-length bob, whatever your texture. If your hair is...
Straight:
Ask your stylist to cut layers toward the bottom of your hair so your ends won?t lie flat and even. For more body and volume, apply mousse toward the bottom of damp strands and scrunch ends together while drying with a diffuser.
Try Suave Professionals Volumizing Foam ($3).
Wavy:
Your hair has nice volume, so you can cut it into one, even length. But before styling, apply a mild holding gel so waves stay soft and full all day.
Try Goldwell Styling Hardliner Acrylic Gel ($16).
Coarse:
Your hair can be dry and prone to split-ends. Keep it healthy by maintaining a shorter, chin-length bob. And make sure to use a touch of wax or pomade to smooth ends and give them a sexy, tousled look.
Try Pantene Pro-V Texturize! Sculpting Wax ($4).
Curly:
Ask your stylist for layers; it?ll remove some of the bulk and allow the curls to lie flat against your face (and not pouf out at the bottom). To control frizz, always use a curl-defining product on wet hair before styling.
Try Aveda Be Curly Curl Control ($18).
Bad short-hair day?
If it?s too short to put into a ponytail, try a wide, pretty headband instead. ¡Problema resuelto!
