Even though the Academy Awards are about rewarding the past year's achievements in film, most of us are really watching to see the gorgeous dresses the Hollywood starlets are wearing. This year was no different—Zoe Saldana took a fashion risk, Jennifer Lopez rocked a dramatic side train and Best Actress winner, Sandra Bullock, wore an intuitive gold gown. Avatar actress Zoe Saldana was one of the 2010 Oscar's most daring dressers in her strapless, beaded purple ombre Givenchy Haute Couture gown, matching purple heels and Lorraine Schwartz amethyst and diamond jewelry.

2. Oscars 2010 - Jennifer Lopez

One of the presenters of the night, Jennifer Lopez, was radiant in her strapless iridescent Armani Prive gown with a side train, Cartier jewels and Ferragamo heels.

Sandra Bullock looked like the personification of the golden Oscar statue in her glittery Marchesa gown with an embroidered floral top—seems like she knew that Best Actress award was hers.

Penelope Cruz, a presenter and Best Supporting Actress nominee for her role in Nine, looked polished in her deep red Donna Karan strapless gown, Chopard jewels and a sleek updo.

Another presenter for the evening, Cameron Diaz, was stunning in her strapless, gold beaded Oscar de la Renta gown, Cartier jewels, deep side-parted hair and red lips.

Mo'Nique paid homage to Hattie McDaniel—the first African American woman to win an Oscar—by donning a royal blue dress and accenting her hair with a gardenia just like McDaniel’s did back in 1939.

Nicole Richie, fiance to the night's DJ, Joel Madden, managed to make her bohemian style Oscar-worthy in a silver and grey striped, bell-sleeved Reem Acra backless gown. She completed the look with Lorraine Schwartz blackened platinum jewelry, Bally heels and a high bun.
