This insane, bitterly cold, winter we’re experiencing on the East Coast is making us lust for a magical trip to Europe, as if we could even make it out of this snow. At Joie’s Fall/Winter 2014 presentation, yesterday afternoon, our fantasy escape came true, sort of. For a couple of hours we were whisked away to the streets of Paris where we were greeted with champagne, croissants, and macaroons!
Joie creative director and CEO, Serge Azria, was also there making the rounds and devouring the sweets as models sported modish coats, cute short skirts, and baggy turtlenecks against backdrops of black-and-white images of Parisian cafes.
Azria, based in Los Angeles and was previously CEO of Vince Camuto, really understands what it means to be an ultra feminine modern girl. The collection’s never exploits a woman’s sex appeal, but instead showcases a classy gal who simply exudes beauty. This collection isn’t trying to be noticed, but there’s no way to avoid Joie’s charm.The entire line, from the sweater coats, to the wool outerwear, and trenches, which had a tomboyish vibe to it, was ridiculously alluring showcasing a natural elegance.
Some of our personal highlights, including the gorgeous messy hair updo swept to the side with bobby pins, was a black and red flannel-like skirt which reminded us of a ‘90s grunge look, and a royal blue short skirt paired with a beige loose-fitted sweater and green parka.
