What's not to love about a Betsey Johnson show? She may be abuela status, but the 71-year-old designer consistently teaches the fashion world a thing or two about fun.
For her latest collection, Betsey sent down funky pieces including sequin and printed minidresses and mini-skirts, knee-high socks, jumpsuits, loose knits and fuzzy coats in all kinds of animal prints (The Cruella de Vil-inspired Dalmation print was our favorite!). Mixing prints was a theme throughout and rich purples, greens, pinks and golds dominated a runway of too-cool-for-school girls sporting plump, purple lips, glitter under the eye and big, textured long hair.
Of course, it wouldn't be a Betsey show without her signature tutu (This season's enviable piece being made of black tulle) or a little theatrics. The show, themed "Betsey's Hot" opened up at Lincoln Center with a smoke-filled runway and ended with two smokeshow firemen and the designer's infamous cartwheel at the end of the runway.
