Throwing a fiesta for Jessica and Janelle Martinez, a.k.a. Prima J, requires a longer than usual guest list. Not because they’re divas—anything but! It’s because these Mexicali cousins, who are gearing up for the June 17 release of their self-titled debut album, have the kind of super-size Latin family that puts yours to shame. A slew of the girls’ relatives—including their beaming papis, who are also brothers—made their first-ever trek from Rosemead, California to New York City hotspot Tenjune to toast Prima J’s cover story in the June/July issue of Latina.
As for Jessica and Janelle themselves: They proved to be the ultimate party-starters, strutting around in their sultry, brightly-colored Bebe dresses and mingling with friends and well-wishers in between busting moves to Snoop Dogg and Pitbull on the dance floor. That was before they flipped it into performance mode, jumping in front of the DJ booth for a fiery rendition of their album’s first single, “Corazón,” and a new hip-pop joint, “Tame,” which closed out with Janelle doing the Robot and even had the men in the club cutting loose. All in all, it was a night full of hugs, photo-snapping and a whole lot of booty-shaking. Take a look!
