WATCH: Chilean Miner Edison Peña Visits the "Late Show with David Letterman"

The rescued Chilean miner nicknamed "The Runner" by his colleagues paid a visit to David Letterman on the Late Show last night and stole the show. Edison Peña managed to maintain his sanity throughout his ordeal by running three to six miles day through the dark tunnels. Marathon officials extended an invitation to Peña to run in the 2010 ING New York City Marathon, on November 7 after hearing his story and he accepted.

Speaking through a translator, Peña spoke to Letterman quite candidly about his harrowing experience stucki in the mine near Copiapó, Chile and the miraculous rescue that saved him and his 32 fellow miners. He told Letterman it was difficult to go to the bathroom because it was hard to relax and also shared a secret passion of his: Elvis tunes! He even sang a little for the legendary late night host, to which David responded, "I kind of want to hug you now." Peña obliged.

I'm a raging opinionista and I love to share my ramblings on everything from pop culture to food to stuff that makes me laugh & cry! I've worked in all types of media (TV, film, print) and was previously the online editor at Latina magazine before joining Mamás Latinas. On most nights you can find me working my way through my library of cookbooks or playing with my puppy Lola (my only child so far). I have a wonderful hubby who shares my passion for any and all kinds of travel. Together, we've formed a semi-professional wine drinking team.
