While we anxiously wait to learn the fate of Ugly Betty here in the United States, audiences can’t get enough of the Mandarin-language version of the show, Variety reports. In its first two months on the air in China, Betty, aka Chou nu wu di, has garnered an average of 11 million viewers per episode, making it the number two fiction program in primetime, according to Televisa. Variety says nearly 19 nations now air some version of Ugly Betty, and many others rerun dubbed episodes.
