The second wave of nominees for this year’s Teen Choice Awards were announced today, and a bevy of Latino stars were among the nominees.
Tyler Posey, the half-Mexican star of MTV’s hit series, Teen Wolf—a dark re-imagining of the 1985 movie of the same name—received nominations for Choice TV Breakout Star and Choice Summer TV Star, while fellow Mexicana, Selena Gomez scored a nod for Choice Summer Movie Star for her role as a young girl who's mistaken for royalty in the summer chick flick, Monte Carlo. Rosario Dawson is also up for Choice Summer Movie Star for her role in Zookeeper.
Elsewhere in TV nominations, Christina Aguilera's hit singing competition, The Voice is up for Breakout Show, while Constance Marie's new ABC Family drama, Switched At Birth is a nominee for Choice Summer TV Show.
In the music categories, three Latinos (American Idol winner, Scotty McCreery, The Voice's Javier Colon and Bruno Mars were all nominated for Choice Music Breakout Star. In the male category, Mars is also up for Choice Summer Music Star, while Selena Gomez is up for Female Choice Music Star, along with fellow Disney alum, Demi Lovato.
The Teen Choice Awards will air August 7th on FOX. Congrats to all of the nominees!
