We’ve received hundreds of tweets from our readers asking us to feature the gorgeous Maite Perroni on Latina.com. Twitter, we heard you, and we are proud to introduce the Mexican-born actress (and singer-songwriter) to our readers this week!
Born Maite Perroni Beorlegui, the 28-year-old is best known for her roles in the Mexican telenovelas Rebelde and Cuidado con el Angel (opposite Cuban actor William Levy) – and currently, she plays an aspiring model in Triunfo de Amor.
In Rebelde, which followed a group of high school students forming a band, the characters’ songs were also performed by the actors themselves in a real-life group known as RBD. Perroni was a member of the pop group, which sold over 20 million albums worldwide and was nominated for two Latin Grammys before splitting up in 2009.
Perroni went on to sing solo, recording songs for the different telenovelas she has starred in, including the opening song for Mi Pecado. In 2009, Perroni appeared on the cover of People en Español beside Hollywood actress Eva Longoria and Mexican recording artist Ana Bárbara for the publication’s Los 50 Más Bellos List.
“There is no mystery or nothing glamorous,” Perroni told Spanish language news agency EFE in May. “I like to be with my family and friends, read, listen to music. I’ve said it – I’m a normal person.”
For a normal person, Perroni has accomplished a great deal. We will definitely keep the actress on our radar!
