Glee star, Lea Michelle, 23, has been tapped to guest star on the Sept. 26 season premiere of the long running cartoon series, The Simpsons. Michelle—who is of Spanish-Sephardic Jewish ancestry and is up for an Emmy on August 29th for her role as whiny soprano Rachel Berry on Glee—will lend her voice to the episode entitled “Elementary School Musical,” in which Lisa Simpson goes to a performing arts camp. Michelle’s Glee costars Cory Monteith and Amber Riley will also guest star in the episode.
In other casting news, Dexter alum Courtney Ford—whose grandparents are Spanish with Navaho and Zuni Indian—has been tapped to play a key role in season 2 of the hit CW series, The Vampire Diaries, which returns Sept. 9. Ford, 32, will play Vanessa—a student at Duke University who helps Damon (Ian Somerhalder) Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Alaric (Matt Davis) sort out Isobel’s (Mia Kirshner) old files. And rumor has it, Vanessa is hiding something.
"She's not without her own intrigue," executive producer Kevin Williamson said of Ford’s character at Comic-Con. "It's a story that hopefully could evolve into this massive story line.” Ford might be best known as the wife of Brandon Routh (Superman), but she’s also a first-rate actress. If you've seen her sexy, tour-de-force performance on Dexter last fall—as the Trinity killer’s (John Lithgow) sociopathic daughter Christine Hill—you know that she’s brilliant at playing characters who are hiding game-changing secrets. Let the games begin!
