NBC 'Siberia' Star Talks Scripted Reality & FedExing Latin Food

Has your honesty gotten you in trouble?

Yeah, that gets me in trouble all the time, but I’d rather be in trouble than changing the essence of who I am.

What are some of your favorite Puerto Rican things you can’t live without?

The food. I can’t live without the food. Thank God they just opened the hole-in-the-wall restaurant here in the valley. Oh my God, it’s amazing. They have the mofongo. They have arroz con guandules. They have it all. They have alcapurrias de pollo, de carne… they have it all. The have bacalaitos fritos, which believe it or not my mom FedExs to me. You know the pasteles? She freezes them and she FedExs them from Puerto Rico. My husband laughs about it. He’s like, “What is your problem? You guys act like there’s no food here.” I’m like, “Baby, it’s not the same. You don’t understand.” And when she comes to visit, she brings like a whole case of food, and my husband is like, “Ok, this is embarrassing.”

So you’re a “foodie” I guess?

Oh I am such a little piggy. Everyone is always mad at me because they are like, “How are you so skinny?” I eat more than my husband. I eat more than anyone of my friends and they hate it. They’re like, “You know what? We don’t want to go to lunch with you.” I think the French girls have it down. You know how they say, “Think skinny and then you’re skinny?” That’s why all the French girls are supposedly skinny. I think it’s true. I think if you think about it, you get fat.
