'¡Q'Viva! The Chosen' To Air on Univision, Televisa

We’ve known for months that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony will be premiering a new reality singing competition ¡Q’VIVA! THE CHOSEN! on television in 2012. But what we didn't know—until now—is what networks will air the show.

It was just announced this morning that the show—which is currently being filmed in English, Spanish and Portugese—will air simultaneously in 21 countries on the most important networks throughout the Americas. Among the well-known networks that will air the global singing competition are Televisa (Mexico), Univision (U.S.-Spanish language television), and Caracol TV (Colombia). Univision will air one-hour weekly episodes of the show in Spanish.

One of the show’s producers, Simon Fuller, had this to say about the show: “We are bringing together all the most powerful brands and networks throughout the Americas to broadcast ¡Q’VIVA! THE CHOSEN! in a unique collaboration where each country will programme the show simultaneously. It will be a powerful statement confirming the growing importance of Latin culture.”

Lopez, Anthony and director-choeographer Jamie King will shoot the show from October 2011 to January 2012, and it is not expected to interfere with her duties as a judge on FOX"s American Idol. During that time, they’ll scour Latin America for untapped talent—singers, dancers, musicians, and performers—while also documenting their own transcontinental travels.

Despite the fact that only three broadcast network partners were announced today, Q’Viva is slated to air in a total of 21 countries.  The show’s English language partner is expected to be announced “very soon."
