Our 5 Favorite Latino 'Degrassi' Characters of All-Time!

The new season of Degrassi premieres Monday, July 18th at 9 (ET) and will feature two of our favorite Latino characters: Dreamy quarterback Drew Torres and gorgeous boyfriend stealer, Bianca DeSoussa (played by Luke Bilyk and Alicia Josipovic). As we anxiously await the premiere of Degrassi Now or Neverwe take a look back at our favorite Latino Degrassi characters of all-time!

1. Degrassi: Luke Bilyk

Andrew "Drew" Torres (Degrassi: The Next Generation)

Played by Luke Bilyk (Seasons 10-11)

Why We Love Him: Even though Drew can be totally evil sometimes (like when he threatened to "out" his team member Riley (Argiris Karras) as gay, unless Riley stepped down from the starting quarterback position), what we love about Drew is that he's a clever smart-ass with an irreverent sense of humor, who doesn't take himself too seriously. For example: Even though the whole school hates his girlfriend Bianca (and we mean it, the WHOLE school hates her!), Drew sees the good in her, which we have to admit is adorable. And since Drew and Bianca are bothLatino, we're proud to call them our favorite Latino power couple in Degrassi history!

2. Degrassi: Alicia Josipovic

Bianca DeSousa (Degrassi: The Next Generation)

Played by Alicia Josipovic (Seasons 10-11)

Why We Love Her: No Latina on the planet makes hoop earrings look as stylish as Bianca DeSousa. And while the girls at Degrassi think she's an evil boyfriend stealer, there's a depth and sweetness about Bianca that we think the show will continue to explore next season. Bianca's not rotten, she's just misunderstood. Having said that, what we love most about her is that her favorite thing to do is tell people off and we must say, she's very good at it!

3. Degrassi: Adamo Ruggiero

Marco Del Rossi (Degrassi: The Next Generation)

Played by Adamo Ruggiero (Seasons 2-9)

Why We Love Him: Like the character Rickie Vasquez on My So Called Life, Marco is one of the most iconic Latino gay characters in the history of television! Although he was often discriminated against by his peers because of his sexuality, Marco never let that get in the way of his happiness. We lived for Marco's playful personality, his penchant for telling jokes and his gossip sessions with Paige (Lauren Collins).

4. Degrassi: Anais Granofsky

Lucy Fernandez (Degrassi Junior High, Degrassi High and Degrassi: The Next Generation)

Played by: Anais Granofsky (Seasons 1-5)

Why We Love HerLucy, one of the first Latina characters on Degrassi, was a rebellious teenager who did whatever she wanted and had little parental supervision. But the girl who started out shoplifting and partying at all hours of the night evolved into a straight A-student who was working towards her doctorate degree in later seasons. What we loved most about Lucy was how much she grew as a person.

5. Degrassi: Perez Hilton

Perez Hilton (Degrassi Goes Hollywood)

Played by Perez Hilton

Why We Love Him: OK, so Perez isn't technically a Degrassi character, especially since the Queen of All Media played himself in the TV movie, Degrassi Goes Hollywood. Still, we loved Perez's cameo, in which the Cuban journalist randomly tells aspiring actress, Paige (Lauren Collins) that she is "yesterday's news." Ouch, that's gotta hurt!
