VMA Nominees Announced — Bruno Mars, Demi Lovato & Miguel Nab Nominations

Singer/actress Demi Lovato, whose highly emotional “Skyscraper” won “Best Video With a Message” at last year’s Video Music Awards, is nominated again this year for “Best Female Video” for the extremely catchy and rock-pop “Heart Attack.” The young pop star performed at last year’s VMA pre-show – hopefully Lovatics will be treated again this year with another performance by their idol.

It’s most likely a very bittersweet time for both Mars and Lovato, who both recently lost parents. Mars’ mother Bernadette Hernandez died on June 1 from a brain aneurysm, and Lovato’s biological father Patrick Lovato passed away last month.

We can’t forget to mention R&B singer Miguel is nominated for “Best Hip-Hop Video” for his feature in J.Cole’s “Power Trip.” Also, Miguel’s “Candles In The Sun” is up for “Best Video With a Social Message” – the songs centers on drugs, guns, and corruption and blends religious imagery with scenes of those abandoned.
