MTV Cancels "South Park" Mexico Spoof in Mexico

MTV canceled Monday’s airing of a South Park episode in Mexico in which President Felipe Calderón appears in front of a Mexican flag, The Huffington Post reports.

The network issued a statement apologizing to its Mexican fans, citing a law stating that their flag and other national symbols must be treated with respect. Otherwise, offenders must pay a 52,590 peso ($4,900) fine. MTV added that it needs government permission before airing the episode (titled "Pinewood Derby") in the country, but Interior Ministry Spokesman Luis Estrada says they've yet to receive such a request.
