Earlier this month, we got a special look into the dramatic murder mystery centered on the Menendez brothers, Lyle and Erik. In the ABC special, Truths and Lies: The Menendez Brothers, new details emerged surrounding the deadly night in 1989, when the two killed their father and mother, Jose and Kitty Menendez.
Now, Lifetime is gearing up to tell the whole story in a special TV movie, written by Abdi Nazemian and directed by producers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbuto. The team has reportedly tapped Courtney Love to play Kitty. According to the network, the focus of the movie will be to tell the story of the "extreme abuse the brothers endured at their father's hands, while their mother looked the other way." In the special, viewers were provided with details about Jose's abusive, harsh ways with his sons — and his unfaithfulness to his wife. The toxic relationships ultimately led both Jose and Kitty to leave their sons out of their will.
More recently, Lyle opened up to People from prison, where he's serving two life sentences. The now 48-year-old told the magazine that he "can't escape the memories" and that it's the "most regrettable thing" that has ever happened.
Production will begin this month in Vancouver, though a specific release date has yet to be set. No word, either, on who will play Lyle, Erik, and Jose.
