Dora the Explorer has been a revolutionary character in the beloved animated Nickelodeon children’s show for 11 years. Now, there’s a new Dora in town, 11 year-old part-Ecuadorian actress Fátima Ptacek, and her voice is the one for the next generation.
For the week of January 30 through February 3 at 10 a.m. (EST), there will be brand-new adventures for Dora and her best friend Boots kicking off season seven of Dora the Explorer on Nickelodeon. Andy Garcia will be featured as Don Quixote and Jason Alexander will voice a greedy owl during this premiere week. Preschoolers who watch the show will learn about ideas from classic literature, geography, art, science, math, and of course, a little Spanish.
“Dora the Explorer is a role model and best friend to children around the globe and in the new episodes she continues to invite preschoolers on her exciting and educational adventures,” Teri Weiss, Senior Vice President of Nickelodeon Preschool said in a press release. “We are thrilled to welcome Fátima Ptacek into the Nickelodeon family as the new voice of the world’s most beloved Latina heroine.
Ptacek is no newcomer in the industry. The bilingual New York City-based actress has appeared in over 60 television commercials, has been cast in leading roles in upcoming feature films including Anything’s Possible and Tío Papi, as well as appearing in guest starring roles on television shows such as Saturday Night Live and Sesame Street.
Surely, Ptacek’s addition to the Emmy-winning Dora the Explorer legacy will be just another exciting adventure!
