24 alum Marisol Nichols, who may be best known for her role as Audrey Griswold in Vegas Vacation (1997) and was most recently seen in the short-lived vampire series, The Gates, has just been tapped to star in the new ABC pilot, Good Christian Bitches.
In the new dramedy from Darren Star, executive producer of Sex and the City, Nichols, 37, will play a character named Heather. The show follows a woman (Leslie Bibb) who moves back to her Dallas neighborhood after a divorce only to become the center of salacious gossip from the community's churchgoing wives. Nichols wil play her best friend who welcomes her back into town with open arms.
The Parent's Television Council has already come out against the show and its title. "[Good Christian Bitches] blatantly attacks the world's largest faith," said PTC President Tim Winter. "The 'b-word' is toxic and is used to degrade, abuse, harass, bully and humiliate women. And the 'Christian' element only adds insult to injury. Would ABC even consider another faith to denigrate? Would they even consider a program title or a plot line based on 'Bitches' who were Muslim, Hindu, Jewish or Buddhist? I suspect not, and I certainly hope not. So why the double standard?"
Good Christian Bitches, which is based on a book by author Kim Gatlin does not focus on Christianity or religion.
