Good mentors are essential for any career, and this season’s American Idol contestants just got lucky! Marc Anthony, whose wife Jennifer Lopez is judging the show, has reportedly been helping contestants prepare for their performances now that they are using earpieces.
This week’s killer Naima Adedapo performance of “Dancing in the Street” may not have been all that great without the help of the award-winning Salsa singer. TVGuide.com reported that this Milwaukee contestant had difficulties with the ‘in Ear” piece her first time using them last week.
"We couldn't really hear ourselves," Adedapo said. "We were having 'pitchy' problems. But Marc Anthony took the time to sit with us one on one and say, 'Okay, how does it sound, how does it feel?' It added so much."
Even J.Lo took a moment to thank Anthony for supporting the show's contestants. Yesterday, she tweeted: "Fun show tonight! It was so inspiring to see @MarcAnthony spending time with the contestants and mentoring them."
Anthony’s willingness to help doesn’t surprise us. We’re just excited to know this American Idol class is getting to rub shoulders with one of the leading Latino singers of our time.
