EXCLUSIVE: Manny Montana On 'Graceland,' Dating Advice, & His Abuelita

Congrats on your new role in Graceland! How did you land this great gig?

Thank you! I got the break from my manager – he told me, ‘You could get this if you want this.’ They were looking for a 20-something-year-old Latino, kid sort of from the streets – that’s pretty much me in a nutshell. Sometimes you read things and it just feels right. It felt right… I felt like I had the part from day 1.

You play Johnny on Graceland, who definitely seems like the life of the party amongst his fellow undercover agents. You’re the cool dude. Is your real life personality similar to Johnny’s?

[Laughs] People ask me that a lot – yes and no. I grew up a really shy kid, but I always surrounded myself with a lot funny people. It depends on the day – if I feel like being quiet, I will be. I’m not a complete goofball though. I take a lot of s*** seriously.
