Lea Michele Shares Her Latino New Year's Tradition

Glee star Lea Michele spoke about one of her New Year’s Eve traditions and it’s Latin!
On a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to promote her new film New Year's Eve (also starring Sofia Vergara and Jake T. Austin), the Sephardic Jewish beauty spoke about the Twelve Grapes tradition, which hails from Spain and consists of eating one grape with each bell strike at midnight on December 31. According to the tradition, grapes help bring a year of prosperity.

But Michele wasn't sure where the tradition came from. “I don’t know why," she told Leno about tossing back the grapes with her mom. "We generally just pick up what people think are good luck and just do it all!” Now she knows!
