Latino Stars Rock Premios Juventud!

Last night, a normally quiet section of Miami was transformed into a sea of blue carpet, glittery dresses, and booming-loud performances as the 8th annual Premios Juventud youth awards show rolled into town. Naturally, we were there to capture all the action and chat up our favorite stars, and there were a lot of them!

William Levy to Host Premios Juventud!

One of the first to hit the blue carpet was Antonio Banderas, honored as this year’s Supernova Artist for all of his career achievements. He brought a surprise guest, wife Melanie Griffith. The two hardly left each other’s side throughout the whole night, which gives us some hope in the world now that former couple who-we-thought-would-be together-forever J.Lo and Marc are no more.

Speaking of which, host William Levy zipped past all the press and avoided controversy. Luckily, though, he was considerate enough to nonchalantly unbutton his shirt onstage and expose his rippling abs. Many eyeballs were thankful. We tried to act surprised when the Brad Pitt of Cuba won the He’s So Hot! award, but, come on…

BREAKING NEWS: Pitbull & Ricky Martin Performing at Premios Juventud!

And the night’s biggest winner was Prince Royce, who nabbed four awards for Red Hot Artist, My Favorite Video (“Corazon Sin Cara”), The Super Tour (“Stand By Me Tour 2011”), and My Tropical Artist. “I grew up in the Bronx, in New York, a very difficult city,” he told us backstage after the big win. “Many people told me I wouldn’t get anywhere… I want to show young people that anything is possible!”

Another artist who had heavy trophies to take home was Pitbull who won Catchiest Tune and My Ringtone for “Bon Bon.” Mr. Worldwide (who assured the crowd he hasn’t given up his Mr. Miami roots during an acceptance speech) had one of the best performances of the night, getting everyone out of their seats for “Give Me Everything (Tonight)” with Ne-Yo and Nayer. Afterward Ne-Yo told press he loved working with Pit and would consider a collaboration with “any Latin artist who is down to do some quality music.” Ne-Yo in Spanish? Um, yes!

5 Hot Moments with William Levy

Other highlights: Ricky Martin won the Follow Me award for being a Twitter pro and performed new singles “Frio” and “Mas” with Wisin y Yandel. The reggaeton duo’s last disc “Los Vaqueros, El Regreso” won Just Play It All, while ultra-flexible Shakira beat out Pitbull and Ricky Martin in the Best Moves category (she accepted her award via Skype). Daddy Yankee and Prince Royce performed “Ven Conmigo” with 1,200 excited, dancing fans. And Anthony “Romeo” Santos stole hearts as always with a performance of “You.”

Now, back to William Levy’s abs…
