Mexican-American singer Joy Enriquez and her husband Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, a Grammy Award-winning producer who’s worked with everyone from J.Lo to Lady Gaga, are the new faces of reality. Their show House of Joy premiered July 18 on nuvoTV, and is a perfect blend of entertainment and family. We caught up with Enriquez at the network’s launch party in Hollywood to get the deets on the series NUVOtv’s new chief creative officer Jennifer Lopez describes as a couple set out to reignite her musical dream while balancing an extended family of nine.
House of Joy centers on your huge family. Who all lives in your house?
My three children, who are five, three, and eight months old, myself, my husband, my mother, father, sister, and brother. My brother's a lawyer and helps run my publishing company, my sister's my manager and also teaches my kids music. My husband and I have a record company. We all work together. My dad fixes everything. I don't outsource anything in my home. Not even a plumber. If my toilet breaks, I go to my father. If my computer breaks, I go to my brother. If I need something sewed, I go to my mother. Food? We go to each other. It’s like a little commune.
